Dakota, 16, is best known for her roles in films such as I Am Sam and The Twilight Saga (starring in both Eclipse and New Moon), and has a wholesome image to go along with her sparkling career. Momsen, meanwhile, signed with IMG Models at the age of fourteen. Since then she has played the role of Jenny on Gossip Girl and fronted the alternative rock band The Pretty Reckless. Off late, she has been displaying some reckless behavior of her own, which may be behind IMG's decision to cease their representation of the 17 year old actress and singer.
According to the New York Daily News, it could be her wild-child behavior which cost her contract with IMG. Besides her increasingly provocative style of dressing, smoking, and partying ways, this year Momsen courted controversy when she flashed her breasts onstage during one of her band's performances.
IMG has released a statement which denies that Momsen's behavior had anything to do with them ending their professional relationship. According to E! News, the agency has said that "IMG and Taylor Momsen amicably parted ways over a year ago. We have nothing but the highest regard for her and wish her continued success."
It would then seem that IMG simply added Fanning, a promising young actress whose career is on the rise, to their roster. As of this week Dakota Fanning is featured on IMG's "Special Bookings" website.
Whatever the reason, the end of Momsen's IMG contract does not mark the end of her modeling career. She has recently been signed as the face of Madonna's Material Girl junior's line.
